Dreaming in New York

In March, 18-year-old Lehman College freshman, Marlen Fernandez, announced her undocumented status publicly for the first time. Fernandez came to White Plains, NY from Mexico when she was just three years old with her parents. She shared her status only with close friends and family before joining the Lehman Dream team last fall. Fernandez joins students around the country who are pushing for the Dream Act, a pathway to citizenship for nearly 2 million undocumented youth in the US.
