It’s no coincidence that meet director Nick Jubok hosts his annual Mudders & Grunters trail race on the final Sunday of each March. The thawing temperatures, combined with spring’s steady rainfall, creates a perfect storm of muddy conditions for this 25-year-old event in Westchester. The course, which weaves through the woods of a small park, across swollen streams and over thick pits of mud, just wouldn’t be the same without the mud. And it’s this, more than anything else, that keeps runners coming back every year.
